The Elder Son

after the play by Alexander Vampilov

Two men miss the last train — and one of them calls himself a stranger's son.

Night, a suburb, the last train gone. So as not to freeze till morning, Busygin passes himself off as Sarafanov's elder son. A joke that goes too far — and turns out to be truer than anyone is ready to admit.
